Funeral Wednesday for W. W. Spencer, age 84

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Malad Stake Chapel for William Walter Spencer, age 85, who died July 4th of natural causes at the home of a daughter in Lehi, Utah. Burial was in Malad City Cemetery.

Mr. Spencer was born July 23, 1885, Centerville, Utah, a son of Thomas and Emma Priscilla Porter Spencer. He married Amelia Lorne Whitehead Nov. 10, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A member of the LDS Church, he served a mission in the Northern States in 1913-14, and was a home teacher. He was a farmer.

Surviving are his widow; sons, daughters, Dr. Joseph Walter, Arlington, Va.; Melvin Reed, Malad; Ralph Whitehead, Las Vegas; Karl Conrad, Orange, Calif.; Mrs. Golden C. (Emma) Ward, Malad; Mrs. Russell (Hazel) Hakes, Lehi, Utah; 29 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Heber James, Meridian, Idaho.

Bishop Earl Gillies officiated. Speakers were Elden Archibald, Joseph W. Spencer, who read the obituary, and President Russell Hakes, George E. Ward offered the invocation; James Vaughan, the benediction and Pres. S. L. Smith, the dedicatory prayer. Vocal solos were presented by Jenkin L. Palmer, accompanied by Janice Palmer, and an instrumental solo, by J. Golden Ward; Prelude and postlude music was played by David T. Worlton.

Flowers were arranged by Malad Fourth LDS Ward Relief Society, Kay Dean Williams, president. Honorary bearers were members of Malad Stake High Priest Quorum. Casket bearers were K. C. Spencer, Jr., David J. Spencer, Melvin Spencer Jr.; Ricky Spencer, Carl N. Marsing, J. Spencer Ward, Kenneth Ward and J. Golden Ward.
