WILLIAM LYNN THORPE

William Lynn Thorpe passed away at his home on May 4, 2012 from heart failure. Lynn was born in Malad, ID on August 27, 1920 to William and Rachel Hamblin Thorpe. He married Glaya Hall on July 18, 1938 and they were sealed together in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in July of 1989. Glaya passed away on February 4, 2000. He married Donna Michaels on April 27, 2009 in Ogden, Utah.

He graduated from Malad High School in 1938 and from Stevens-Henager College in Salt Lake City, majoring in Accounting. For most of his career, Lynn worked various management and supervisory position within the aero space industry, for the Marquardt Corp., Thiokol and retiring from Northrup-Grunan Corp. in 1983. Lynn was a private pilot and enjoyed flying. His career allowed him to travel to numerous places around the world, including China, Japan and Saudi Arabia, where he lived for four years.

Lynn is survived by his three children: Lewis (Sharon), Ogden, UT; William Lynn, Jr. (Kathryn), Laguna Hills, CA; and Deborah (Richard) Marhart, Durango, CO; five grandchildren, Shelby (Guy) Evans, Powersville, MI; Michael Thorpe, Fernley, NV; Bret (Patricia) Thorpe, Ogden; _ane (couldn’t read) (Angela) Thorpe, __yton; (couldn’t read); and Jennifer Byrd __rrolton, (couldn’t read) Kentucky; fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were held May 12, 2012 at Lindquist’s Mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
