WILLIAM JOHN REED

William J. Reed dies here Fri. funeral Tues.

William John Reed, age 81, died Friday, July 29, at the Oneida County Hospital of a heart ailment.

He was born June 18, 1896 at St. John, a son of John Thomas and Mary Jane Josephson Reed.

He married Rosa Clara Newhouse Sept. 26, 1919 at Malad City. She died Nov. 30, 1943.

He was a carpenter and farmer; member of the LDS Church and was a ward clerk in the St. John Ward.
Survivors include two sons and four daughters: William Cleon Reed, Red Mountain, Calif.; Boyd J. Reed, Charleston, South Carolina; Miss Elaine Reed, Mrs. Rex (Mildred) Evans, both of Malad; Mrs. Leonard (Merle) Nault, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Gary (Norma Jean) Rasmussen, San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers and one sister: Theodore Raymond Reed, Palisades; Sylvester Howard Reed, St. John; Mrs. Gary (Carol Lucille) Florke, Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral Service

Services for Mr. Reed were held Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the St. John LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Eugene Edwards officiating.

Gary C. Rasmussen offered the family prayer at the Benson Funeral Home.

At the Chapel, Rex Daniels gave the invocation, and Marsha E. Schwartz read the obituary.

Speakers were Bishop Hubert Gleed and Bishop Melvin Yearsley.

Vocal selections were rendered by Helen E. Jones and Rolene J. Gleed. Patsy Bybee played prelude and postlude music and accompanied.

Offering the benediction was Teddy Reed.

Concluding rites were at St. John Cemetery, where Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayer.

Overseeing flowers was the St. John Relief Socety, Rosalie Colton, president.

Casket bearers were Oliver Newhouse, Paul Nault, Dale Schwartz, Greg Evans, Loyd Newhouse and Teddy Reed.
