William Golden Zundel Gibbs

GIBBS, WILLIAM GOLDEN ZUNDEL

William Golden Zundel Gibbs, 84, died May 5, 1983 at Bannock Regional Medical Center following an illness.

He was born November 13, 1898 at Portage, Box Elder County, Utah, to William Henry Gibbs, Jr. and Elizabeth Sarah Zundel.

He married hazel Marie Mickels October 25, 1922 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a retired Union Pacific Railroad employee where he had worked for 43 years.

He was a life- long active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest at the time of his death. He served as a counselor in two bishoprics, was the second Pocatello Stake Mission president, and spent 23 years as an active missionary. He served two foreign missions, served in the northern states and in the Indiana, Indianapolis area. He also served two missions for the Pocatello Stake and one for his home Fourth Ward. He was president of the Elders Quorum.

Survivors include his wife, Pocatello; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth G. Wardle, Logan, UT; two brothers, Harding Z. Gibbs, Basalt, and Duggan Z. Gibbs, McCammon; four sisters, Letitia Sorensen, Salt lake City, UT; Julia Christensen, Pocatello; Phoebe Levi, Nampa, and May Lewis, Fallon, NV; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Z. Gibbs.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Pocatello East LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Dale Kirkham of the Pocatello Fourth Ward officiating. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery.
