Thelma Dredge Gibbs (Birth 02 Nov 1905/Death 30 Sep 1994)
Thelma Dredge Gibbs, 88 died Friday, Sept. 30, 1994 in the Bear River Valley Hospital, Tremonton.
She was born November 2, 1905 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Jesse Horatio and Eliza Rosetta Kunz Dredge. She married Walter Ervin Gibbs, Sept. 30, 1932 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died June 27, 1962.
Mrs. Gibbs was a graduate of Malad High School and attended LDS Business College.
She and her husband owned and operated a farm and cattle ranch in Portage, where she had served on the Portage Town Board.
At the time of her death, she was a member of the Tremonton Nursing Home Branch where she served as counselor in the Relief Society. As a member of the Portage Ward, she had served as ward and stake music chairman, YWMIA president and chorister, and as a visiting teacher. She had also directed numerous adult and youth choirs and had been a member of the Tabernacle Choir. She had served missions to the Northern States and Georgia Atlanta Missions.
Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Walter Sherman & Lynda Gibbs, Huntington Beach, California; Douglas James & Trina Gibbs, Portage; Richard Jesse Gibbs, Ogden; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 5 sisters and 1 brother, Ellen Castleton, Puyallup, Washington; Ruth Swanson, Mesa, Arizona; Rose Ward, Sugar City, Idaho; Norma Hill, St. George; Elaine Mills, Malad, Idaho; Calvin Dredge, Rupert, Idaho.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Portage Ward Chapel, with Bishop Bud Lee Knudsen, officiating. Interment was in the Portage Cemetery.
