Wilda LaReece Jones Illum, 22 March 1928

Wilda LaReece Jones Illum passed away July 14, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Patty Willis, due to complications of diabetes. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

She was born March 22, 1928 in Malad, Oneida, Idaho, the daughter of John Henry Jones and Charlote Elizabeth Moon. She grew up in Cherry Creek and graduated from Malad High School.

She married Grant R. Kay, June 8, 1947 in Cherry Creek, Oneida, Idaho. They were divorced later. She married Elmer Illum, February 1, 1958. Their marriage was solemnized later in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away August 30, 1992.

She enjoyed riding horses, gardening, hunting and fishing, quilting and sharing time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Malad LDS Fourth Ward. She served as a stake missionary, girls camp director, Cub Scout leader and counselor in the Young Women and Relief Society presidencies, and other callings.

She was trained as an EMT and spent many dedicated hours in service. She often volunteered for the National Cancer Society. She wrote the St. John news for The Idaho Enterprise and was a historian/photographer for the Malad Valley…………..

She is survived by one brother, Arthur Jones, Huntington Beach, CA; one sister, Dorothy Whetsel, Riverton, UT; children: Gail Illum, daughter-in-law, Syracuse, UT; Douglas (Maureen) Illum, Idaho Falls, ID; Mollie (Ted) Barnes, Bancroft, ID; Karoleen (James) Parkinson, Collinston, UT; Lonnie (Phyllis) Kay, Randolph, UT; Danny Kay, Bakersfield, CA; Patty (Tom) Willis, Shelley, ID; 24 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; one brother, Darrell Jones, and three sisters, Ione Jones, Thella O’Keefe and Betty Gay Jones; one son, Kenneth (Gail) Illum, Syracuse, UT; and one granddaughter.
