Kenneth Walter Illum, 11 May 1944

SYRACUSE – Kenneth Walter Illum, age 57, passed away February 5, 2002 at his home of heart failure.

He was born May 11, 1944 in Malad, ID, the son of Elmer Walter and Verlene Atkinson Illum. He was raised by his father and loving step mother, Wilda LaRece Illum. Kenneth was reared and educated in Malad, ID, graduating from Malad High School.

Kenneth married Gail Hamblin on May 20, 1983 in Syracuse. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 30, 1965.

Kenneth served in the US Navy. He was employed at the Ogden Clinic for 13 years and retired from the Davis School District in 1999.

He was a member of the LDS Church, serving as a High Priest.

He enjoyed gardening, repairing small engines and loved to share the harvest of the garden with friends and neighbors. He had a very special companion, Teeboo.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Robert J. (Angela) Illum, Pleasant View; two grandchildren, Christian and McKinley.

Also surviving are three brothers, Doug (Maureen) Illum, Idaho Falls, ID; Lonnie (Phyllis) Kay, Randolph; Danny Kay, CA; and three sisters, Mollie (Ted) Barnes, Bancroft, ID; Patricia (Tom) Willis, Great Falls, MT; and Karaleen (Jim) Parkinson, Colliinston, UT.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held February 8, 2002 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
