Devere Illum
MALAD – Devere Illum, 74, longtime St. John resident, died Monday, October 31, 1994, at his home of apparent heart failure.

He was born March 25, 1920, in Malad, a son of Sevil F. and Nellie Beard Illum. He grew up and was educated in Elkhorn and Malad, and was a graduate of Malad High School. He later attended the University of Idaho, where he studied engineering.

He married Lois Hill, and they were later divorced. On December 30, 1950, he married Glenna Deen Jensen in Malad.

He had worked for a short time in Pocatello and Mountain Home before returning to Malad, when he and his brother, Elmer, purchased the family farm at Lower Elkhorn. He had farmed and ranched for many years until his retirement.

He had served as a board member and president of bother the Farm Bureau and the Pleasantview Livestock Association.

Surving is his wife, Gleena, of St. John; three sons and their wives, Terry and Gladys Illum of West Covina, California.; Brad and Cheri Illum of American Falls, and Chris and Colleen Illum of Malad; one daughter and her husband, Delaine and Hamed Qawasmeh of Georgetown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 1994, at noon in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel, located at 308 W. 400 N. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Friday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
