Nephi Petersen Ipsen, 66 of Arroya Grande, California, and former Malad resident, passed away Monday, October 6, 1997, in Santa Barbara. He was born March 3, 1931 in Malad, a son of Lewis and Leda Jones Ipsen. He married Karlene Baker, December 27, 1952 in San Diego, California.
For many years Mr. Ipsen worked in U.S. Navel Intelligence and has been stationed in Japan, Virginia, New Jersey, and for the past 15 years, has resided in California, where he had owned and operated a jewelry shop.
He is survived by his wife of Arroya Grande: four daughters, Julie (Bob)Tuffuri of New Jersey; Theresa (Dr. Winston) Anderson of San Luis Opispo, California; Diane (John) Nelson of San Diego, California; Nancy (Keay) Nakae of Belmont Shore, California; one brother, Lewis (Barbara) Ipsen of Grants Pass, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Helen Loomis of Malad; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 1997, at 12 noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post #65.
