Wayne James Williams, 79, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Jan. 2, 1997 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City after an extended illness. He was born October 18, 1917, to Benjamin and Nora Beth Williams in Malad, Idaho, the eldest of seven children. He was raised in Cherry Creek, Idaho, and educated in Malad schools.
He married Grace Jones March 22, 1941, in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his wife, three children, David (Sherry) Williams, Magna, Utah; Dianne (Dale) Jordison, West Valley, Utah; and Lana (Kent) Korgenski, Salt Lake City, Utah; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Clem B., Cherry Creek, Dee, Plymouth, Utah; grant, Preston, and Kenny, Cherry Creek; and two sisters, Lavene John, Malad, and Mona Bird, Malad.
Wayne was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wayne worked at Second Street in Ogden, Utah, and at Goodyear Rubber and Tire in Los Angeles, Calif. He was a transport operator for Consolidated Freightways for 32 years with over a million and a half miles safety record. He loved to hunt and fish with his children and grandchildren. He was known for his great sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the Malad LDS Third Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funereal Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad, today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
