Orval Williams, 87, of Pocatello, passed away at a local care center, Tuesday, May 13, 1997.
Orval was born October 3, 1909 in Malad, Idaho. He was born the fifth of seven children to Benjamin and Rachel Williams. Orval was reared and worked for neighboring farms in Malad, Idaho, and was later employed with U&I Sugar Company in Garland, Utah.
He moved to Pocatello and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, and retired after 30 years of service.
Orval married Myrtle Bowman in Malad, Idaho on September 13, 1939. Three sons were born of that union.
He was a member of the LDS 12th Ward. He belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway Car Men Local No. 6094. He enjoyed bowling with the Senior Kings and Queens and Pioneer Bowling League for many years. He enjoyed outdoor activities of fishing and hunting also.
Orval is survived by two sons, Orval Wayne Williams and spouse, Pam; Larry Williams and spouse, Nadean; both of Pocatello; a brother, Ronald Williams and spouse, Margaret, also of Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, a son, Boyd Cecil Williams, three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 1997 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave. Pocatello. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 16, 1997, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral services at Mountainview Cemetery, also in Pocatello.
Military graveside rites are by the combined veterans’ groups: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 735, American Legion Post 4, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3, Fleet Reserve Association No. 133 and Noncommissioned Officers Association No. 888.
