WALKER S. RICH

HUSBAND OF FORMER MALAD WOMAN DIES

BLACKFOOT — Walker S. Rich, 65, prominent stockman and farmer, residing on Rich Lane, died Saturday [August 9, 1958] in a Blackfoot Hospital of a heart ailment. He recently had minor surgery.

Mr. Rich had been active in livestock and agricultural development in the area. He had served as a judge of the Eastern Idaho State Fair and was a starter in the horse racing program.

He was a member of the state AAA committee. During World War II he was on the rationing board. He was a trustee and member of the house committee for Elks Lodge 1416 and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mr. Rich was born Nov. 24, 1892, at Paris to Samuel J. and Anna Page Rich. The family came to Bingham County in 1907.

He married Eleanor A. Jones, Nov. 9, 1914, at Malad. She survives with sons, Walker J., Mackay, and Sam, Yakima, Wash.; daughters, Mrs. James (Ada Mae) Woodson, Palo Alto, Calif., and Mrs. Ronald (Eleanor Ann) Ballard, Seattle; eight grandchildren; brothers, Roscoe C. Rich, Burley, chairman of the state highway board; Grover, San Francisco, and Elwood, Pocatello.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Elks Lodge Hall with Glen Jex, exalted ruler, presiding.
