Virginia Lorene “Jeanie” Cockrell, 23, 620 Rapid Creek Road, died Saturday morning, March 19, 1994, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

She was born December 22, 1970, at Billings, Montana, to Robert J. and Dixie Jean Shaffer Cockrell Sr. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1989. Jeanie attended two years at Ricks College in Rexburg. She was employed with Albertson’s Food Center as a deli clerk.

She enjoyed singing, writing music, dancing, art, skiing and serving as a volleyball coach. She loved working with children, especially her 17 nieces and nephews, who idolized and adored her. She was a member of the Pocatello LDS 24th Ward, where she was loved and embraced by all.

Jeanie is survived by her parents, of Inkom; four brothers, Robert J. and Cindi Cockrell Jr. of Pocatello, Ronald S. and Debbie Cockrell of Malad, Enoch Barton Cockrell of Park City, Utah; and Thomas Brent Cockrell of Jackson, Wyoming.; two sisters, Lanez and Todd Penovich of Orem, Utah.; and Ramona and Steve Despain of Kent, Washington; and five very close friends, Jenilyn Cooper, Kevin Golden, Kenneth Smith, Christopher Livingston and Angela Andrew.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 1994, in the Rapid Creek LDS Ward Chapel, Inkom, with Bishop Craig M. Cooper of the Pocatello LDS 24th Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Henderson Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, and from noon until service time on Wednesday at the chapel. Interment will be in the Inkom Cemetery.
