VIOLA P. THOMAS, 86, DIES OF NATURAL CAUSES

Mrs. Viola C. Peterson Thomas, age 86, died April 19, 1976 in the Oneida County Nursing Home of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 10, 1890 at Snowville, UT, a daughter of Hyrum and Esther Jane Arbon Peterson.

She was married to Charles Edward Thomas June 8, 1922 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Thomas died Sept. 3, 1959.

Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of Albion State Normal College and was a school teacher in Pleasantview for several years. Being an active member of the LDS Church, she served an Eastern States Mission, as Malad Stake Relief Society Counselor, Ward Relief Society President and Secretary, and teacher in all the church auxiliaries. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Survivors include two sons and five daughters: Charles Erwin Thomas, Malad; Marcus Hyrum Thomas, Reno, NV; Mrs. Ralph (Hope) Price, Malad; Mrs. T.A. (Renee) Burgess, Tooele, UT; Mrs. K. Reed (Donna Gayle) Walker, Spokane, WA; Mrs. Alvin K. (Criesta) Bytheway, and Mrs. John (Polly) Steenblik, both of Salt Lake City, UT. She had 32 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters: H. Howard Peterson, Thatcher, UT; Hyrum Peterson, Malad; Mrs. Deloria Price, Malad; Mrs. Eulalia Widmeyer, Ogden, UT; Mrs. Helena Simmons, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Leola Boley, Alhambra, CA; Mrs. Mary Smith, Long Beach, CA.

Funeral services will be Saturday in the Pleasantview LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Merlin Bastian officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasantview Cemetery.
