Vickie Lynn Jensen Gunter

McCammon……Vickie Lynn Jensen Gunter, 59, of McCammon, wife of Ernie Gunter, passed away at her home following a long illness on December 3, 2008. She was born July 21, 1949, in Pocatello, Idaho a daughter of John Charles and Dora Jean Smith Jensen. She grew up and was educated in Pocatello and was a graduate of Pocatello High School, class of 1967. Soon after graduation, she began employment with the Idaho State Department of Health and Welfare. Vickie worked as a public assistance officer for many years until her retirement in 2004. She married Ernie Gunter July 9, 1977, in Elko, Nevada. They made their home in the Johnny Creek area of Pocatello for several years, moving to McCammon in 1984, where they have since resided. She enjoyed reading and gardening. Vickie had devoted her life to the raising and enjoying her children and grandchildren. She was a giving person who was of service to others as well as her family. Due to her illness, she became an active supporter of Relay for Life and other cancer-related activities and organizations. Vickie is survived by her husband, Ernie of McCammon; children; Jessica (Joshua) Steenmeyer of Las Vegas, Nevada; Monica Gunter of McCammon; Beau James (Amber) Gunter of Grace; stepchildren; Melissa (Dennis) Krieger of Ohio; Eric Gunter of St. George, Utah; 6 grandchildren. brothers; Dave (Aleta) Jensen of Pocatello and Donald Jensen of Pocatello; a sister; Sussanne Jensen of McCammon. Mother and father in law; James H. and Helen Gunter of Arimo. she was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2008, at 12 noon in the McCammon LDS Stake Chapel. Friends are invited to visit with the Gunter family on Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral home 570 N. Meadowview DR., in Arimo and on Monday at the church prior to services from 10:30-11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Arimo Cemetery.
