Vernon Job Steed, 80, died July 21, 1983, at his home in Garland, Utah. He was born December 22, 1902, at Clinton Utah, to Thomas Joseph S. and Sarah Charlotte Banford Steed. He married Tressie Christina Neal March 15, 1922, in the Salt Lake Temple. She died May 20, 1976.

He then married Lila Sorenson Deakin Myers August 31, 1976, Brigham City.

Vern lived in Stone and St. John, Idaho, before moving to Garland in 1963. He attended Clinton and Morgan schools. He was a high priest in the Garland 3rd Ward and served in the past as Elders Quorum President and home teacher, a past member of the Oneida County School Board, owned and operated his ranch in Stone and St. John, Idaho, and Ten Mile ranch in West Box Elder County, and a past director of the Delmar Irrigation Company.

Survivors include his wife of Garland, three sons and five daughters, Dee Vern Steed, Jackson, Wyoming; Karl Neal Steed, Snowville, Utah; Lyle J. Steed, Stone, Idaho; Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Carter, Stone, Idaho; Mrs. Miles O. (Nola) Thompson, Tremonton, Utah; Mrs. Max W. (Eva Lou) Laub, Logan, Utah; Mrs. Edward (Elaine) Chadwick, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Andrew K. (Darlene) Funk, Garland, Utah; two step-daughters and two step-sons, Mrs. George (LaVada) Bench, Howell, Utah; William Myers, Tremonton, Utah; Robert Myers, Brigham, Utah; Margaret Myers, Salt Lake City, Utah; 39 grandchildren, and 62 great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister, Mrs. Tom (Clara) Taylor, Taylorsville, Utah; Joseph F. Steed, Stone, Idaho.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Garland LDS Ward Chapel.

Internment[Interment] was in the Garland Cemetery.
