Dee Vern Steed, 77, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born July 11, 1931 in Tremonton, Utah to Vernon and Tressie Neal Steed. He married DeLores Larsen on September 20, 1963 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Dee was a life-long farmer and rancher. He also made saddles by hand for many years. He enjoyed gardening, making fence silhouettes and spending time with his wife of 47 years and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, DeLores, of Preston, three sons, Kerby Steed of Roosevelt, Utah; Kelly (Brenda) Steed of Newton, Utah; a daughter, Brenda (Chris) Christensen of Pendleton, Oregon; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, EvaLou Lamb of St. George, Utah and Linda Kirkblade of Burley, Utah; and two brothers, Carl (Molly) Steed of Snowville, Utah and Lyle (Kathleen) Steed of Stone, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Nola Thompson, Carlene Funk and Elaine Chadwick.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31 in the Preston 11th Ward Chapel with Bishop Alan Holt conducting. Interment was in the Garland Utah Cemetery.
