Funeral Monday for Mrs. Tressie Steed, 72
Funeral services were conducted May 24th in Garland for Mrs. Tressie Chrestena Neal Steed, 72, formerly of Stone. Burial was in the Garland City Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 30, 1903 in Stone to Fredrick Charles and Andrea Chrestena Daley Neal. Mrs. Steed was reared and educated in Stone and at Box Elder High School.
She married Vernon Job Steed March 15, 1922, in Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in St. John, Idaho before moving to Garland in 1966. She was a member of the Garland 2nd LDS Ward. She had served in the past in Stone as Primary Treasurer, a member of the Primary Presidency, and as chorister and teacher. She has received her 30 year certificate for primary service.
She had served as a member of the YWMIA presidency and secretary both in Stone and Bear River Stake. She had served as secretary and a member of the Relief Society presidency and was a Sunday School teacher.
She was a Relief Society visiting teacher and a choir member.
She served as 4-H leader for 18 years. She served as registrar judge for many years, and was an officer on the North Box Elder Company of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a member and former officer in the Ladies Self Culture Club. She had also worked with the American Cancer Society for five years.
Survivors are her husband, Garland; three sons and five daughters; Dee Vern Steed of Smithfield, Ut., Karl Neal Steed, Snowville; Lyle J. Steed, and Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Carter both of Stone; Mrs. Miles (Nola) Thompson and Mrs. Max (Evalou) Laub, both of Tremonton; Mrs. Edward (Elaine) Chadwick, Ogden; Mrs. Andrew (Darlene) Funk, Garland.
She had 30 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.
Four brothers and two sisters: Clifford Neal, Snowville; Howard Neal, Malad; Merle Neal, Stone; Dwayne Neal, Ogden; Mrs. Ed (Ada) Pratt, Boise, Id.; Mrs. Norman (Ella) Talbot, St. George.
