Joseph Samuel Steed, 14 June 1909

SNOWVILLE, UT – Joseph Samuel Steed, 92, of Snowville, UT died March 28, 2002 in Mesa, AZ. He was born June 14, 1909 in Ogden, UT, the son of Joseph F. and Charlotte Branford Steed.

Joseph lived and attended school in Ogden, East Canyon, Clinton and Clearfield. He moved with his family to Stone, ID at age ten, where he graduated from high school. He then attended Weber State College in Ogden for a year. He then served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand.

He married Marjorie Smith on October 17, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Stone where he was a farmer and rancher. He also drove milk truck between Yost and Tremonton for several years. He helped to organize rodeos in Stone. He was the secretary for the Cattleman’s Assoc. in the Curlew Valley.

Joseph was a High Priest in the Curlew Ward. He also served in many church callings including a counselor in two Bishoprics. For 23 years they spent their winters in Yuma, AZ where they owned and operated a RV park. For the past few years they have lived in Mesa, AZ with their daughter, Susan Rocz.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marjorie; two daughters, Susan Rocz of Mesa, AZ and Jolene Snow of Stone, ID; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

His seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held April 4, 2002 at the Curlew LDS Church in Snowville. Interment will be in the Snowville Cemetery.
