Harriet Lueen Bowen Steed, 24 October 1921

DOWNEY – Harriet Lueen Bowen Steed, 80, wife, mother and friend, passed through this life on September 30, 2002 in Downey.

She was born October 24, 1921 to Harry C. and Jennie Bybee Bowen, and was raised and educated in Downey.

In 1940, she married Paul J. Nadolski and moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she raised three girls, Jeanie, Peggy and Nancy. She divorced and moved back to Idaho in 1956 and at that time started work in the family owned Downey State Bank.

In 1958, she married Ursel Steed and had two more children, Byron and Susan.

She continued employment at the bank until her retirement.

Lou will be remembered as an excellent seamstress and for many years made most of her’s and her children’s clothing. She enjoyed being at home and there was hardly a time when she wasn’t cleaning, cooking or sitting at the sewing machine.

Friends and family will remember her as an excellent cook and fondly remember her Sunday dinners.

Lou was a dark haired, beautiful woman who was very quiet and composed. She appreciated style and carried herself gracefully until the time of her death.

She is survived by Ursel Steed of Downey; children, jean (Neil) Coleman of Westport, CT; Peggy Lou (John) Weigand of Pocatello; Nancy Nadolski and Steven Severn of Boise, ID; Byron J. and Stacey Steed of Downey; and Susan Steed of Boise; brothers, Ben and Dick Bowen; and sister, Jean (?)azusky; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, laree Wise, brother, William David Bowen and grandsons, Keith and Scott Coleman.
