Vaun C. Davis (Birth 19 Apr 1925/Death 14 Sep 1988)

Vaun C. Davis, 63, of 843 W. 4300 S., Ogden, Utah, died Wednesday, September 14, (1988) in Malad of an apparent heart attack.

He was born April 19,1925 in Jerome, to Griff J. and Vernal Caldwell Davis. He was raised and educated in Malad and attended Malad High School.

As a young man he moved to California. He joined the Navy during World War II and served as a radioman.

He married Ruth Stella Martinez in July 1945. They were later divorced.

He married Lois Ward July 23,1949 in Malad. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, November 26, 1962.

He lived in California where he worked in a sheet metal business and at a plastics plant. In 1961 he moved to Ogden, Utah, where he has since resided. For 26 years he was employed at Hill Air Force Base where he worked in quality control.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife of Ogden; three sons, Vaun C. Davis Jr., Chehalis, Washington; Glenn W. Davis, Chandler, Arizona; Wayne Alan Davis, Layton, Utah; one daughter, Shirley Mae Mecham, Ogden; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Boyd Davis, Utah; John R. and Terry Davis, both of Idaho Falls; and seven sisters, Mrs. Odell (Erma) Price, Malad; Mrs. Danny (Emily) Sheridan and Mrs. Pearl Tolbert, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Tim (JoAnn) Archibald, Denver, Colorado; Marlene Thomas, Pocatello; Mrs. Darwin (Rosalie) Browning, Bellvue, Washington; and Mrs. James (Deanna) Johnson, California.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 17, in the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel. Friends called Friday from 6 to 6 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary in Roy, Utah, and on Saturday at the church in Malad from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery with funeral arrangements under the direction of the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home of Malad.
