Solomon Kiliona Davis, 47, died Sunday, December 18 (1983) at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born to William H.K. and Lillian Ochi Davis on August 12, 1936, in Hoolehua, Molokai, Hawaii. He grew up and was educated in Hawaii. He attended the Kamehameha school for boys. Later he received a B.S. degree in chemistry from BYU.

On August 8, 1957, he married Patricia Salveson in Coeur d’Alene. Later the marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 8, 1958. He taught school in Hawaii and also at East High in Salt Lake City. For 10 years he worked at the Douglas Proving Grounds as a chemist. In 1975 he moved to Downey. He has taught school at Irving Junior High and was an instructor at Idaho State University Vo Tech in the crop and soil program. He worked as an insurance agent for the past several years.

He was a member of the LDS Church and taught in all the auxiliaries. He was an elder’s quorum president, branch president in Hawaii, and young men’s president. He was also active in youth athletics and scouting. In Downey he organized the little league basketball program.

Survivors include his wife, Downey; two sons, Eric and Scott, Downey; five daughters, Mrs. Bill (Lani) Brown and Mrs. Mark (Lisa) Jensen, both of Salt Lake City; Patty Davis, serving an LDS mission in Roanoke, Virginia; and Tasi and Valerie Davis, both of Downey; three brothers, Heinie N. Davis, William K. L. Davis, and Buck K. Davis, all of Molokai, Hawaii; three sisters, Mrs. Elroy (Cora Lou K.) Kaleikau, Fullerton, California; Mrs. Davis (Lena K.) Robertson, Richland, Washington; and Mrs. Henry (Lillian K.) Akina, Molokai. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 22, at the Downey LDS First Ward chapel with Bishop Willis Barfuss officiating. Burial was in the Downey City Cemetery. The family requested donations to the Solomon Davis Athletic Fund, Box C. Downey, Idaho 83234, in lieu of flowers.
