THOMAS MASON HUGHES (died 6 Oct 1951)
Hughes Funeral Held Monday
Funeral services for Thomas Mason Hughes, 69, who died at the Oneida hospital Saturday, were held at the Malad Second Ward chapel Monday afternoon with Bishop A.G. Willie officiating.
Musical selections consisted of prelude and postlude music by Mrs. S.A. Hendricks; electric guitar selections, Barbara Herron and Peggy Herron; song, Grant Evans accompanied by Mrs. S.A. Hendricks; song, Mrs. Max Pilgrim and Mrs. Khalil Hanson accompanied by Mrs. Lynn Ward; song, Mrs. Leo Brown, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Barker. Speakers were Moyle E. Facer, J.M. Isaacson and Bishop Willie, who gave a sketch of Mr. Hughes’ life. Prayer at the home was given by George Cowley; opening prayer, Josiah Price; closing prayer, C.E. Thomas; dedication of the grave, Bishop Jesse Hughes. Burial was in the Pleasant View cemetery.
Mr. Hughes was born March 12, 1882, a son of Talliesen and Jane Mason Hughes. He was married to Margaret E. Price in the Logan L>D.S. Temple on November 28, 1906. Engaged in farming at Pleasant View before moving to Malad in 1945, Mr. Hughes was very active in the L.D.S. church of the Pleasant View ward.
Surviving are his widow and six sons and daughters, Mrs. Lewis Jenkins, Malad; Mrs. John W. Price, Pleasant View; Mrs. Burnell Herron, Magna; Emery Hughes, Ogden; Merlin Hughes and Leonard Hughes, Malad; the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Lewis Neeley, Logan; Mrs. Ruel Ipsen, Malad; Mrs. George Cowley, Logan; Mrs. Owen Hess, Fielding, Utah; Talliesen Hughes, Malad; Jacob Hughes, Malad; and Edward Hughes, Malad; Mrs. John W. Price, Malad; and 17 grandchildren.
