Orilla LuRinda Barry Hughes, 3 December 1907

Orilla LuRinda Barry Hughes, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on April 4, 2003 due to natural causes at the age of 95.

Orilla was born December 3, 1907 to james and Julia Robbins Barry. She grew up in Spencer, Idaho.

She met and married Levi W. Hughes December 20, 1933. They made their home in Samaria, Idaho. They built a two room log home, which they lived in until 1950, then built their present home.

Orilla loved her home and family. She loved working in her garden and beautiful flowers. She was known for her industrious personality. She loved her family and was forever serving them. Everyone loved to come to her home to eat her delicious home cooked meals and enjoy her sweet spirit and beautiful smile.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Hughes, three brothers, Elmer, Warren and Kenneth Barry, and two sisters, Myrtle Barry and Minnie Barry Davis. She is survived by one sister, Vivian B. Christensen of Fort Hall, ID; three daughters, Edwena Arends of Salt Lake City, UT; Dorothy (Melvin) Spraker of Sandpoint, ID; Marcene (Tom) Williams of Malad, ID; and five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on April 8, 2003 at the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, ID. Those participating in the memorial services were Edwena H. Arends, officiating; prelude and postlude by Patsy R. Bybee; opening prayer given by Carol H. Daniels; a vocal solo, “Going Home”, sung by Susie Doying and accompanied by Patsy R. Bybee; the life sketch given by Phyllis W. Price; a vocal solo, “Mother’s Hands”, sung by Susie Doying and accompanied by Patsy R. Bybee; and the closing prayer given by Dale Daniels.
