Thella Moon Jones O’Keefe, 74, Malad, died Friday, January 27, in the Oneida Hospital
She was born October 16, 1914, at Cherry Creek to John Henry and Charlotte Elizabeth “Lizzy” Moon Jones. She was reared and educated in Cherry Creek and Malad, and attended Malad High School.
As a young woman, she moved to Salt Lake City where she worked at Woolworth’s and Western Garment Company.
She married Leo Paul O’Keefe July 1, 1936, in Salt Lake where she worked at Woolworth’s and Western Garment Company.
She married Leo Paul O’Keefe July 1, 1936 in Salt Lake City. He died October 29, 1983.
For many years she worked as a cook in several local cafes.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Primary and MIA organizations.
She is survived by one son, John L. O’Keefe, Malad; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur C. Jones, Huntington Beach, California; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Whetsel, Riverton, Utah and Mrs. Elmer (Wilda) Illum, Malad. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Malad LDS Fifth Ward Chapel with Counselor Craig Sperry officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Creek Cemetery.
