Sato_Ted_24 February, 1922
Our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Ted Sato began his journey February 14, 2009 to reunite with his wife, mother, father, brother, sisters, family members and friends that have left before him. It will be a happy, joyous gathering. Ted married Yaeko Okamoto, she passed away March 23, 1987, so it will be a wonderful reunion for them.
Ted was born in St. Johns, Idaho, February 24, 1922 to Tora and Ushizo Sato. He graduated from Bear River High School and soon after joined the Japanese 442 Combat Unit and was a highly decorated member. He fought heroically during WW11. We are so proud of him. He is survived by sisters, Rhoda (Moon) Haramoto and Aiko (Hideo) Yanagida, brother, Wallace (Yuki) Sato. Many nieces and nephews will miss him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sisters; Dorothy Woodliff, Mary Moriyama and a brother, George Sato.
He loved children and small animals. He often adopted orphan kittens and they soon ruled the roost. Ted was also an avid golfer and gardener. He had a green thumb and grew large beautiful fruits and vegetables for family, friends and even strangers. We enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He was such a kind, hard working man, fair and honest to all who knew him. Ted worked at Hill Field for many years before retiring. He missed the many friends he had made there. Uncle Ted, we will miss you and all the love you showed toward us. Thank you for our freedoms and this wonderful country we are honored to live in. We are forever grateful to you for your sacrifices. We love you and will remember you always.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Family and friends may call Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery with military honors accorded.
