Funeral services for Steve Owens, 20, who died Sunday morning at the Oneida hospital in Malad were held at 12 noon Tuesday in the L.D.S. Third Ward chapel. Mr. Owens had been in ill health since October, 1950.
Bishop Jesse Hughes conducted. The prayer at the home was offered by Hubert Gleed; Darrell Swartz offered the invocation; Lawrence Budge, the benediction. S.M. Powell played the prelude and postlude and R.T. Campbell of Salt Lake City dedicated the grave. Ralph Harding and Boyd Sorenson of Scipio, Utah were the speakers, and remarks were made by Bishop Hughes. The musical numbers were furnished by Keith Evans, Don Williams, June and Gwen Ward.
Mr. Owens was born in Malad, December 4, 1930, son of Edward T. and Elizabeth Jones Owens. He was educated in the Malad schools and lived here until three years ago when the family moved to Scipio, Utah. Mr. Owens attended the last two years of high school at Millard high school in Fillmore, Utah, graduating in 1949.
He is survived by his mother, a brother, Edward D. Owens, Malad; two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie John, Idaho Falls; Miss Betty Owens, Pocatello, and maternal grandmother, Mrs. David E. Jones, Sr., Malad.
