Stanley G. “Stan” Waldron, 85, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 in the Williamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Oregon. He was born February 25, 1924 to Walter and Amelia Griffiths Waldron. He grew up in Samaria.
Stan attended grade school in Samaria and later graduated from high school in Malad City Idaho. After graduation, he joined the Army. He fought in World War 11 as a paratrooper where he earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.
After the war Stan married Emma Jean Cottam on September 23, 1946 in Pocatello, Idaho. They moved to Los Angeles, California so he could attend Diesel Mechanic School. They returned to Malad City for 16 years before making their home in the McMinnville, Oregon area in 1966.
Stan drove trucks for Morgan Drive-A-Way (mobile home movers) for 35 years where he managed to keep a perfect driving record.
Stan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as the VFW and American Legion.
His hobbies include buying and selling cars, camping and hunting. He liked to collect belt buckles and hats. His family said he will be well missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Emma in 2008, a brother Walter Waldron and two sisters, Elizabeth Waldron and Delone Reese.
Survivors include sons, Stanley “Denton” Waldron, Amity, Oregon; Lonnie Waldron, Lincoln City, Oregon; Bart Waldron and Bret Waldron, both of McMinnville, Oregon; Daughters Neva Pett, and Linda Peterson, both of Salem, Oregon; Jan Lofton, McMinnville, Oregon; Charlene Penton, Amity, Oregon, Deanna Tippetts, Brookings, Oregon; Joelynn Murray, Seaside, Oregon and Pamela Wilson, Hillsboro, Oregon. One surviving brother and two sisters include William Waldron, Los Angeles, California, LaRue Gayle, Alberta, Washington and Nadine Wagner, Boise, Idaho; 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Macy and Son Chapel in McMinnville, Oregon. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in McMinnville on Thursday, March 19, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Steven Bernhisel officiating.
