Sophie Leigh Jones Eliason

ELIASON, SOPHIE LEIGH JONES, September 19, 1884 – September 28, 1981

Sophie Leigh Jones Eliason, Malad, died Monday, Sept. 28 at the Oneida County Hospital.

She was born Sept. 19, 1884 in Malad to David Leigh and Sophie Jones. She grew up and attended schools in Blackfoot. She married Jedd Jones, Sr. May 6, 1907 in Blackfoot. They moved to Malad where she had lived since that time. Mr. Jones died Dec. 27, 1944. She then married Bert Eliason Jan. 15, 1954 in Las Vegas, NV. He died July 14, 1965.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, War Mothers, a First Worthy Matron of Acacia Chapter of Eastern Star, and was a charter member of the Kensington Club.

Survivors include two sons: Jedd Jones, Jr., Boise, and T.D. Jones, Malad; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held October 2 at 12 noon at the Benson Horsley Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Naugler officiating.

The prelude and postlude music was played by Myra Jean John; opening sentences and invocation, obituary, Seth Thomas; vocals, Helen Jones; benediction, concluding rites, Malad City Cemetery, committal Rev. Naugler.
