SHANE THORPE DIES FRIDAY AT U OF U MEDICAL CENTER

Shane William Thorpe, 16, died September 19, 1980 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City of cystic fibrosis.

He was born June 23, 1964 in Malad to Douglas Delone and Tonya Denice Parker Thorpe. He was a student at Malad High School.

He enjoyed horses, biking and all sports. The past year he had been manager of the Malad High School wrestling team.

He was active in 4-H, with horse and beef projects. He had received the “I Dare You” award for outstanding leadership in 4-H. He also belonged to FFA.

Shane was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of teacher.

He is survived by his parents, of Malad; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tex Parker and Mr. and Mrs. William D. Thorpe, all of Malad; a brother and a sister, Marty Douglas and Kimberly, both of Malad.

Funeral services were held in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Foster Ipsen officiating.

Burial was in the Pleasantview Cemetery.
