MRS. SARAH R. THOMAS DIED HERE SATURDAY

Mrs. Sarah Richards Thomas, 83, died Saturday in Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born May 19, 1890, at Malad to William Henry and Katherine Jones Richards. She married D. Dredge Thomas June 5, 1913 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Thomas died Oct. 26, 1968.

Mrs. Thomas was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as primary teacher, relief society work director and visiting teacher.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Grant Thomas, Los Angeles; Maurice Thomas, Portage, UT; Mrs. S. Wayne (Leota) Smith, Pocatello and Mrs. Leonard (Maurine) Hughes, Malad; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Dr. Lorin L. Richards, Salt Lake City, UT, and Mrs. W.G. (Katherine) Lund, Phoenix, AZ.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Malad First LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Myron Jones, Jr. officiating. Pres. Lorin L. Richards offered the family prayer; Randy Hughes, invocation and Scott Smith, benediction. Speakers were Lou Williams, who read the obituary; James Vaughan, Pres. S.L. Smith and Bishop Jones. Connie Budge and Lana Esplin sang a duet; Ada Holm, a solo, and Marla Dredge played a violin solo. Accompanist was Ilene Parker. Prelude and postlude music was played by Mae Williams.

At Malad City Cemetery, Dale Thomas offered the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were carried by members of Malad First Ward Relief Society, Merle Mills, president.

Casket bearers were Dale Thomas, Reed Thomas, Kent Thomas, Scott Smith, Randy Hughes, Dan Thomas.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
