Sarah Ann J. Stayner, age 79, died Sunday

Mrs. Sarah Ann Jones Stayner, age 79, died Sunday, Jan. 12th, in Huntington Beach, Calif., of natural causes.

Mrs. Stayner was born May 13, 1895, at St. John, Idaho, a daughter of Evans George and Josephine Deschamps Jones. She married Henry T. Stayner, May 10, 1916, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Stayner died on April 22, 1973.

Mrs. Stayner was reared and educated in St. John and also attended Malad schools. She was an active member of the LDS Church and for 17 years, served as Relief Society organist here. Mr. and Mrs. Stayner moved to California about 10 years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Milo, Jay Lynn, both of Malad; six daughters, Mrs. Gloria Johnson, Huntington Beach; Mrs. Ruth Hyde, Payette, Idaho; Mrs. Venice Strong, Salt lake; Mrs. Sarah Western, Orem, Utah; Mrs. Naomi Gibbs, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Genevieve Lesser, Castle Rock, Colo.; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six brothers and a sister, Dr. L. Mitchell Jones, SLC; John D. Jones, Ogden; Evan Jones, Malad; Reuel(sic) Jones, Provo; Marion D. Jones, Gig Harbor, Washington; Golden K. Jones, and Mrs. Rosalie Neilson, both of San Carlos, Calif.

Funeral held Thursday for Mrs. Sarah Stayner, 79

Bishop D. Eugene Edwards officiated at the funeral Thursday in the Benson Funeral Home for Mrs. Sarah Ann Jones Stayner, age 79, who died Jan. 12th in Huntington Beach, California.

Speakers were Bishop Paul A. Lesser and Jean Sweeten, who gave the obituary. Family prayer was offered by E. Michael Stayner; invocation, John D. Jones; benediction, Reuel Jones.

Music included a vocal solo, Ilene Parker; piano solo, Patsy Bybee, who was the accompanist and played prelude and postlude music.

Dr. L. Mitchell Jones offered the dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery.

Granddaughters and St. John Relief Society, Lois Hess, president, were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Evan Jones, Golden Jones, Preston Strong, Ralph Western, Richard Gibbs and Lloyd Hyde.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
