Maude Stayner

NORTH OGDEN, UTAH–Maude Lewis Stayner, 70, North Ogden, died Sunday in the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

She was born October 3, 1914, in Malad, to David J. and Maude Thomas Lewis. She grew up and was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School.

She married Kenneth C. Stayner October 3, 1934, in Malad. That marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple June 4, 1964.

She had lived in Santa Monica, California, for eight years, and later moved to Salt Lake City, St. George, Utah, and Twin Falls. She returned to California where she had lived in San Carlos and Gilroy.

She worked for several years as a meteorologist for the Eitel-McCullough Corp., while living in San Carlos and Salt Lake City. She moved to North Ogden in 1982 W**** *** *** residing at the time of her death.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served as young women’s MIA President and teacher, Sunday school teacher, secretary in the Relief Society and had worked in various other capacities.

While living in Twin Falls, she had served as president of the Twin Falls New-Comers Club.

She is survived by her husband, North Ogden; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald W. (Lana Jean) Hankins, Fenton, Michigan; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Errol (Rhea) Williams, Malad; and Mrs. Leon (Shirley) Williams, North Ogden. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were Thursday at Noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
