Samuel J. “Bud” Davis, 72, a St. John, Idaho, resident, died Saturday, December 10, 1983, at the Oneida County Hospital.

He was born in St. John to Thomas John and Rachel Ann Jones Davis on November 13, 1911. He grew up in St. John and graduated from Malad High School.

He farmed and herded sheep as a young man.

On March 9, 1938, he married Hannah May Atkinson in St. John. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on February 17, 1965.

A lifetime resident of St. John, he farmed and ranched in the Malad area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an Elder in the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife, St. John; two sons, Gary T. Davis, St. John; Brent A. Davis, Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Dale Davis, St. John; Harold Davis, Salt Lake City; Seth and Parley Davis, both of Ogden; and a sister, Mrs. Otis (Mary) Lewis, Malad. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 14, at the St. John LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Jerry Bush officiating. Burial was at the St. John Cemetery.
