Ruth Williams Surrage, 5th daughter of Maximillian and Eleanor Thomas Williams returned to her Heavenly Father and the loving arms of her husband, John William Surrage on October 18, 2009.
Ruth was born on a snowy day on December 10, 1924 at home in Samaria, Idaho. She was married to John William Surrage, June 23, 1945.
Bill and Ruth spent 30 years in the Marine Corps, traveling all over the world. While raising 3 daughters, Ruth Ann (Garrel) Wilson, Kayla Ellen (Gerald) Magnuson and Jauna L. Surrage. After retirement Ruth became a sought after teacher of porcelain lace draping and china painting.
Ruth was unique in the fact that once she learned a new skill she became a teacher of that skill. Ruth was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding leadership and teaching positions up to the time of her illness.
She is survived by her three daughters: Ruth Ann, Kayla and Jauna, six grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Goodbye Mom, thanks for teaching us to dance.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends and family may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 and one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
