PERRY – Heaven is one star brighter with the passing of Ruth Eldea Nadel Flint Witt on July 21, 1994 at the University of Utah Medical Center from complications of surgery.

Born January 20, 1926 to Richard A. Flint and Theanis Mina Naomi West in Malad, Idaho. She married Francis William Witt, June 3, 1945 in the Lutheran Church, Great Falls, Montana.

Following graduation from Malad High in 1944, she attended Columbia School of Nursing and College of Great Falls, Great Falls, Montana. A nurse at the Tooele Hospital, she was office nurse for J. Howard Rasmussen MD; Larry E. Pritchard, MD; and John Larsen, MD in Brigham City.

She belonged to AAMA, serving as secretary, President and Newsletter Editor. Active in PTA, she served as Secretary and Room Mother Chairman in Willard. She served 58 years as a volunteer in the American Red Cross, serving as Chairman of the Box Elder Chapter for four years.

Served on several boards in social work, abuse substance, Aids seminar and heart disease. A member of the Interagency Council, she was chairman in 1990. A member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, she served on the Box Elder South Camp for several years.

Nadel and husband, Francis, have been untiring volunteers in civic work in both Willard and Perry and have given unselfishly to Sr. Citizen friends. This fact was recently acknowledged when they were selected to serve as Perry’s Grand Marshals of the July 4th parade.

A member of the Brigham City Community Presbyterian Church. Nadel taught Sunday School in Malad and Brigham City. President of the Women’s Association; officer in Utah Presbyterial, Circle Chairman, Advisor to young people’s group, she also taught religion at Intermountain Indian School.

Nadel knew no religious bounds and served her Willard neighbors by teaching homemaking and health classes for the Relief Society two years and as visiting teacher for the Willard First Ward for 17 years.

Survivors include her husband of Perry; one son, Bill and Denic Witt of Willard; seven grandchildren: Keith & Monica Witt, Brigham City; Jami, Adam, April, Sheri, and Gregg Witt of Willard. Two brothers and five sisters: William D. (Mary) Flint of Perry, Gerald D. Flint of Ogden, Shirley (Bud) Flenner, Portland, Ore., Beverly (Ralph) Wilson, Medford, Ore., Beth (Sam) Walden, Wheatland, Calif., Margo (Bob) Mullen and Nancy (Lee) Goss of Brigham City.

She was preceded in death by daughter Naomi Ann and infant son Donald Lee; her parents and one brother, Richard A. Flint Jr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 10 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, 304 South 200 East, Brigham City.

Friends may call at 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at Peterson Funeral Chapel, 634 East, Second South.

Interment will be in the Willard City Cemetery.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers to make contributions to the local chapter of the American Red Cross, American Diabetes Association or the Salvation Army.
