Russell Petersen dies February 6

Russell Petersen, 67, died Monday, February 6, [1984] at his home in Arimo of a heart attack. He was born to Lars Peter and Mary Archibald Petersen in Perry, Utah, on January 21, 1917. He attended schools in Park Valley and Clarksville, Utah, and graduated from the Lewiston High School. He then worked on a farm in Lewiston.

On December 31, 1937, he married Martha Martin. Later the marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. During World War II he served in the Army in the Philippines. Returning from the service he worked in Dillon. Montana, on a ranch for nine years. Then he moved to Arimo where he had farmed prior to his death.

He was a member of the Marsh Valley and Preston Cutter Association. He participated for four years in the world championship cutter races with his own team. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Arimo; a brother, Leon Petersen, Lewiston, Utah; and a sister, Mrs. Metta[sic] Hansen, Burley.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 9, at the Garden Creek LDS Arimo Chapel. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery in Malad.
