Rudolph Ruegsegger dies in Utah

Mr. Rudolph Ruegsegger, 89, died at Burkes Convalescent Home in Hurricane, Utah Monday, June 11th [1979]. He was born in Gumligen, Switzerland in 1890 to Samuel and Elizabeth Muti Ruegsegger.

He came to America when he was 10 years of age as an indentured servant.

He was married to Bertha Spuhler on June 18, 1913 in the Logan LDS Temple. After his marriage he and his wife homesteaded in the Daniels area north of Malad where he farmed until he moved to Dillon, Montana in 1949 where he purchased the Schuler Ranch.

While living in Malad he served as Bishop of the Daniels LDS Ward for 20 years. When the Daniels Ward was dissolved he served as High Councilman for several years. He served as a County Commissioner for three or four years. He also fulfilled a mission for the LDS Church in Texas in 1943.

He returned to Utah in 1974 and made his home in St. George. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha, in 1961 and one son.

He is survived by his second wife, Marie and four children, John Ruegsegger, Verla Boetticher, both of Dillon; Eldon Ruegsegger, Ritzville, Washington; June Johnson of Idaho Falls; and 22 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14th in the St. George, Utah Fourth Ward. Graveside services will be in the Malad City Cemetery Saturday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m.
