JOHN RUEGSEGGER

Funeral service for John Ruegsegger, 85

Funeral services were held Wednesday for John Ruegsegger, age 85, who died Monday [December 7, 1970] in Oneida County Hospital of a long illness. Mr. Ruegsegger, who was born Aug. 6, 1885 at Bern Switzerland, to Samuel R. and Anna Elizabeth Mutti Ruegsegger, came to the United States as a young man in 1901 and seven years later, in 1908, homesteaded in the Daniels area where he was a farmer and stockman.

He married Marguerite Roope Kent Sept. 6, 1934, at Logan. She survives. Also surviving are a step-son, Brian Kent, Anchorage, Alaska; step-daughter, Mrs. Asheal (Rosemary) Wilkins, Denver; 20 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Rudolph Ruegsegger, Dillon, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Vern (Emma) Karchner, Logan; Mrs. Ida Newbrand, Paradise, Utah.

Funeral services were held at Benson Funeral Home with interment in St. John Cemetery following.

The Rev. Richard Goodier conducted the funeral services. Robert W. Hess read the obituary. A quartet consisting of Mr. Hess, Mrs. Margaret Boam, W. Griff Jenkins and Jeanne Jenkins sang two numbers and Mrs. Boam and Mrs. Jenkins, a hymn.

Rev. Goodier was in charge of committal services at the St. John Cemetery.

Flowers were carried by the United Presbyterian Women, Wilorie Lewis, president.

Casket bearers were Morgan W. Tovey, Buford McDaniel, Floyd Hess, Frank Thomas, Albert Bush and Cornelius Jones.
