ROSE ELLA JOHNSON HOBSON

Rose Ella Johnson Hobson passed away November 29, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Leah, in Granite Falls, Washington.

Rose was the daughter of William Benerdotte Johnson and Elizabeth Kate Hacker. She attended school in Salt Lake as a child and later, in Oxford, Idaho, after her mom was widowed and remarried to Jesse Hobson. She grew up learning the farm life.

She married John Reynol Hobson on March 7, 1922. They had three sons and three daughters before moving to Malad, Idaho, in the spring of 1933. A fourth son was born December 21, 1934.

After the death of her husband John in 1956, she worked at whatever she could in order to support herself before starting to work as a waitress in the Dude Ranch Café. She later worked at the Wheel Inn until she retired.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She took great pride in her large and growing family and enjoyed living close to them. She spent the last 11 years living with Lorraine, Leah and Phil; and she greatly enjoyed being close to these members of her family.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed her years of being assistant compassionate service leader. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer in October 2005.

She is survived by daughter Leah (DeWayne) Madsen of Granite Falls, Washington; son Phil (Eloise) Hobson of Milwaukee, Oregon; and many grandchildren. Great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who will greatly miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sons, Robert (Bob) Harvey and Alton; and daughters Melba and Lorraine.

A service was held under the direction of the Horsley Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 8, at noon, with a family visitation beforehand. Interment was in the Swan Lake Cemetery, Swan Lake.
