Maude Jones Hodges, 86 died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1994, in the Franklin County Nursing Home in Preston.

She was born February 16, 1908, in Samaria, Idaho, to Thomas Charles and Phoebe Ann Williams Jones. She married Elmer “Dick” Hodges on February 18, 1925, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He died February 14, 1972.

She lived most of her married life in Preston, Idaho. Following the death of her husband she moved to Malad, Idaho, and lived there for about 10 years. She then moved back to Preston, residing at the nursing home.

During her life she served in many church callings: Primary presidency, Relief Society, and many years as a visiting teacher. She was able to enjoy many trips to the Logan LDS Temple during the time she lived in Malad.

She enjoyed her home and took pride in her flowers and surroundings. She enjoyed handwork and crocheting many afghans for family and friends.

She is survived by her six sons and one daughter, Elmo, Bountiful, Utah.; Keith, Preston, Ronald, Bountiful, Utah.; Thayne “Cedar,” Preston, LaMont, Billings, Montana.; Larry, Preston, and daughter Marlene Friedli, Smithfield, Utah; 37 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, her parents, one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 1994, at noon in the Preston LDS South Stake Center, 55 E. First South, Preston, under the direction of Bishop Jerry Waddoups. Friends may call at Webb Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, Nov. 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the stake center on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery.
