PHIL HOBSON

MILWAUKIE, OR – Phil Hobson passed away August 23, 2011 in Milwaukie, Oregon, following a courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease.

He was born on December 21, 1934 to John Reynol and Rose Ella Johnson Hobson. Phil attended schools in Malad, Idaho, graduating from Malad High School in 1953. He then went to Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. He worked for his brother, Alton, while going to college, at Alton’s Phillips 66 Service Station on Pole Line and Maple in Pocatello. He graduated from ISU in May of 1961.

On June 9, 1961, he married Eloise Romeriell in Chubbuck, ID. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 7, 2008, and just had celebrated their 50th anniversary in June of this year.

Shortly after getting married, the couple moved to Portland, OR, where Phil was employed by the Fisher Milling company as a controller, who was responsible for the grain, flour and other products being shipped and received over several states by rail. He worked there until he suffered a major heart attack, forcing him to retire.

He spent his younger years enjoying hunting and fishing with his Dad and three older brothers. Phil transferred that interest into supporting his son, John, who played on a school hockey team. They traveled around the league in the U.S. and Canada. It was a time of great enjoyment for the family.

Phil is survived by his wife, Eloise; daughter, Kristinnne Ann of Milwukie; son, John Phillips and wife, Angie, also of Milwaukie; and four loving grandchildren, Trent, Lauren, Hunter and Breana; a sister, Leah Madsen of Preston, ID; mother-in-law, Louise Romeriell Ward, and brothers-in-law, Dale and Lynn Romeriell. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Harvey and Alton Hobson; infant sister, Melba Ann and Lorraine H. Thomas.

Services will be at the LDS Church on August 31, 2011. Interment follows at the Milwuaukie Cemetery.
