Roland B. Davis dies September 29

MALAD – Dr. Roland Bowen Davis, 61, Malad, died Wednesday (29 Sep 1982) at his farm home in Pocatello Valley of a heart attack.

He was born Aug. 14, 1921, at Malad to Richard Bowen and Esther Evans Davis. He graduated from Malad High School and attended the University of Utah, San Jose State College, and the University of Southern California, graduating with a doctor of dental surgery degree in 1945. He had dental licenses in California, Idaho and Utah. For the past several years he had farmed in the Pocatello Valley west of Malad.

He married Elaine Freeman in December 1946. They were later divorced.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 10 in San Jose Calif., the Malad American Legion, the Malad chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the LDS Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Esther Davis Phin, and Diane Elaine Davis Phin, both of Boulder, Colo.; and a sister, Orpha E. Davis, Malad.

Funeral services were Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Benson Horsley Funer¬al Home in Malad.

Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery with military graveside rites.
