Oliver C. Davis, 71, dies of heart failure in Ogden hospital

Oliver Coffield Davis, 71, died July 27 at the McKay Hospital in Ogden of heart failure.

He was born April 11, 1905 in Union, Oregon the son of Frank P. and Mary Hinton Duke Davis.

He married Hannah Williams, Jan. 18, 1924 in Malad, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple Dec. 14, 1927. He was reared and educated in Garland and Logan. He was a High Priest in the East Garland Ward. He had served two Bear River Stake missions, was president of the Elder’s Quorom (sp. Quorum), was Seventies’ Group leader and group leader and secretary of the High Priests. He had been a home teacher for 35 years and had been an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple.

He is survived by his widow of Garland; one son and one daughter: Ronald J. Davis, Garland; Mrs. Ruby Sims, Ogden. Twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren.

Three brothers and one sister: James E. Davis, Riverside, Calif.; Fred M. Davis, Preston, Id.; Matthew Davis, Ogden; Mrs. J. Frank (Irene) Hill, Tremonton.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Garland Stake Tabernacle. Friends may call at the Rogers Mortuary in Tremonton, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m.

The interment will be in the Garland cemetery.
