
ROBERT TALBOT
MALAD – Robert Wilson Talbot (Bob), 82, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello.
Bob was born April 15, 1917, in Eckert, Colorado, to Robert Mosley Talbot and Lorena McGruder Talbot.
Bob was married to Paulina Talbot, and they were divorced. He married Julia (Dewey) Sherwood July 10, 1944, in Idaho Falls. Dewey passed away August 21, 1999.
Bob enlisted in the A.A.F. on August 10, 1942. He was a supercharger repairman and an airplane and engine mechanic. He was awarded a citation for Soldiers Medal when an airplane crashed and burst into flames. With complete disregard for personal safety and at the risk of his life, he dashed into the blazing airplane and aided in extricating a passenger. He suffered severe burns for the act of bravery.
He served in Salina, Kansas, and Alexandria, Louisiana, among other duty stations. His decorations and citations were American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Soldiers Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Bob lived in Colorado, Idaho Falls and Henry’s Lake, Idaho. He worked as a welder, he drove truck for a truckline and worked for the State Highway in the Island Park area.
He is survived by a sister, Rusty Rheaume of California, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dewey, his parents and one brother.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho, from 11 a..m. until 12 noon. Burial services will be held at a later date at Targhee Cemetery at Henry’s Lake.
