FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR ROBERT C. HARRIS
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Portage LDS Ward Chapel for Robert Cromwell Harris, 89, who died Saturday evening in a Tremonton hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Harris was born December 23, 1874 at Portage, a son of Enoch and Jane Ann Hoskins Harris. He married Sylvia Green March 24, 1897 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mrs. Harris died in 1957.
A former member of the Portage town board, Mr. Harris was an active member of the LDS Church and served missions in the Eastern States in 1897 and in the Malad Stake for two years. He was a High Priest in the Malad Stake and an alternate High Councilman, Portage ward clerk, member of the bishopric, Sunday School teacher and Priesthood advisor.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters: Alvin Harris, Logan; Wayne Harris, Washington, D.C.; Loyal G. Harris and Devere Harris, Portage; Mrs. Elroy (Arvilla) Nielsen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Douglas (Verna) Laws, Layton; 34 grandchildren and two brother, R.E. Harris and Wilford Harris, both of Ririe, Idaho.
