Maude Ione Rees Harris, 86, died Saturday, September 10, 1994 at the Box Elder County Nursing Home.

She was born September 5, 1908 in Cherry Creek, Idaho, a daughter of Phillip Morgan and Nellie Branzek Rees. She married Virgin(sic) (Virgil) Cromwell Harris, April 10, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he died in March 1985.

Mrs. Harris was reared in Cherry Creek and was a graduate of Malad High School. She had lived in Portage all her married life. For many years she worked as a correspondent for the Leader Publishing Company.

As a member of the LDS Church she served as Relief Society and Primary President, Relief Society teacher, organist and visiting teacher.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter and their spouses: Reid Harris, Pocatello, Idaho; Carol and Lee Pettingill, Zillah, Wash.; Phil R. and Freda Harris, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 1 sister; Marion Rees, Phil Rees, both West Valley City; Gloria Gleed, Malad, Id. She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 16, 1994 at 1:00 p.m. in the Portage LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Bud Lee Knudsen officiating. Friends may call Thursday September 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton and Friday 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Portage Church. Interment will be in the Portage Cemetery.
