Dr. R. Lloyd Davis Dies Here Tuesday

Dr. Richard Lloyd Davis, 48, Salinas, California, and formerly a Malad resident, died Tuesday (27 Aug 1963) in Malad of a heart attack while vising at the home of his sister, Miss Orpha Davis.

He was born December 17, 1914 at Malad, a son of Richard Owens and Esther Catherine Evans Davis. He married Carmen Silva, June 23, 1946 at Malad.

Dr. Davis was a graduate of Malad High School, University of Utah, Northwestern Medical School and the University of Iowa Orthopedic School. He was a member of the American Medical Association, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a diplomat of the National Board; a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his widow and two sons, John Lloyd Davis and James Richard Davis, all of Salinas; three brothers and one sister, Dr. Gerald E. Davis, Redwood City, Calif.; Dr. Lorenzo L. Davis, San Jose, Calif.; Dr. Roland B. Davis and Miss Orpha E. Davis, Malad.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Counselor Ben W. Call officiating. Friends may call at Benson Funeral Home Thursday evening of Friday prior to services. Burial will be at the Malad City Cemetery directed by Benson Funeral Home.
