Gunshot Wound Kills R.L. Mulder

Richard Lesly Mulder, 22, died Sunday, October 9, 1960 at Tooele of a gunshot wound.

Police said it was determined that Mr. Mulder was handling a small caliber pistol while driving his car and it discharged, striking him in the head.

Mr. Mulder had been working at Grantsville with a construction outfit since March of this year.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Malad Third ward with Bishop Hubert Gleed officiating. Speakers were Dr. Thos. W. Richards and Hesse Hughes. The invocation was offered by D.LeRoy Thomas and the benediction by Dave Williams. Frank Williams offered the family prayer. Musical numbers were a duet, Ilene Reynolds and Diane Facer; solo, June Ward, accompanied by Mary Louise Peden and Margaret Laws, who also played the prelude and postlude.

Raiford Benson offered the dedicatory prayer at the Malad City Cemetery and military rites were conducted by the Ernest w. Jones post of the American Legion. Flowers were arranged by members of the family and Malad Third Ward Relief Society.

Bearers were Deamond Perkins, Larry Denton, Don Lee Cottrell, Billie Cottrell, Kyle Hughes and Clarence Frasure.

Burial was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Multer was born here May 7, 1938, a son of John W. and Velda Jean Parris Mulder. He was reared and educated here and completed a tour of duty with the US Army. He completed his high school education while in the army and also was graduated from an army school of refrigeration engineering. He was a member of the LDS church.

Surviving are his parents; grandfather, J.H. Parris, Downey; brother, Victor, Ogden; sisters Cherri and Margaret, Malad.
