Emeline Grant Mumford, age 93, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on August 1, 2010 of natural causes.
Emeline was born on November 1, 1916 in Holbrook, Idaho to Carter Eldredge and Pamela Smith Grant. She was one of 10 children.
“Emmy” married Max Alden Mumford in the Salt Lake Temple, August 9, 1937. Max died November 30, 2007.
Emeline worked in many LDS Church organizations, including Primary and Junior Sunday School, both in the ward and the stake. She was called to be a temple worker and supervisor at the Jordan River Temple when it first opened on January 3, 1982. Of all her callings, she most enjoyed being a secretary to her husband, Max, during the years he was Stake Patriarch, both in Sandy and South Jordan.
“Emmy” graduated from Jordan High School. She loved all types of sports, especially bowling, tennis and golfing with her “golfing buddy” Max.
She is survived by a sister, Rachel Grant Alsop; her children Dianne (Robert) Jensen; Bryan (Pauline) Mumford; Dr. James (Anita) Mumford, 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Wentworth at Willowcreek Assisted Living and Sunbrook Home Health and Hospice for their loving and tender care of our mother.
A viewing will be held Saturday August 7, at 10:00 a.m. prior to an 11:00 a.m. funeral service in the Willow Creek 7th Ward LDS chapel, 2115 East Creek Road, Sandy, Utah. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery after the funeral services. Online condolences: www.larkincares.com.
